Management of University of Cape Coast, in a bid to maintain adequate and consistent illumination on campus, has procured an aerial bucket for the maintenance of street lights.
The Kia 3000 Aerial Bucket purchased from Rana Motors & Metal Works Engineering Company Limited will also be used to repair works that are above ground level.
Presenting the equipment to the University, the Sales Manager of the company, Alex Kuntah, revealed that a training session will be organized for members of the transport section of the university to enable them assist the electricity section to put the bucket to effective use.
He explained, “The aerial bucket needs professional hands to operate it so we want to do a demonstration to the transport team, give them firsthand training session on the operation of the area bucket, leave them to practice it while we are away, and then come back and mop up all that has been left out.”
He noted that there will be constant dialogues between the company and the university to ensure the regular servicing of the equipment.
According to him, this will help build a strong relationship between Rana Motors and the University of Cape Coast.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rosemond Boohene, who received the bucket expressed appreciation to Rana Motors for ensuring smooth delivery to the university. She said the equipment had come at an opportune time.
She further revealed the university will develop preventive maintenance to keep the equipment functioning and prevent any costly unplanned stoppage from unexpected equipment failure.
On his part, the head of the Electricity section, Ing. Joseph Wilberforce Ansah indicated the equipment will address certain electrical challenges his outfit has been facing.
