In a compassionate act of supporting adopted schools, the Institute of Education at the University of Cape Coast has donated stationery items to the learners at Dehia English/Arabic Basic School and the Iman Khomein Islamic Basic School, Amamoma.
The donation is part of the institute’s duty to donate through the adopted school projects established by the provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast.
The project was aimed at equipping underdeveloped and low-performing schools within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
Sharing insights into the institute’s initiative of providing stationery items to these schools, Dr. Christopher Yaw Kwaah, a senior researcher at the Institute of Education mentioned it was borne out of interactions with students and some parents.
According to him, the students in such areas were deprived of stationary supplies which impeded their learning progress.
Speaking with ATL FM NEWS, Dr. Christopher Yaw Kwaah expressed hope that “this will help improve the teaching and learning of these kids or teaching and learning in this considerably when these stationeries are given to the kids.”
He said key among activities the institute embarks on is the training of teachers within low-performing basic, Junior High and Senior High Schools in support of teaching and learning.
He added that other departments under the College of Education Studies have also collaborated with the institute to improve the performance of these schools effectively.
The Institute of Education presented to the two schools 100 exercise books, 500 erasers, 500 pencils, 450 blue pens, 350 sharpeners and 100 crayons to enhance their learning experience.
