An Immigration Officer has died while a Police Officer remains hospitalised with serious injuries following a motorbike crash at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The deceased, identified as Amoakoh, popularly known as Ahuoden, was reportedly travelling as a pillion passenger on the motorbike when the crash occurred.
The Police Officer, who is attached to the Central North Regional Police Command, was riding the motorbike as the two travelled from the Finest Pup area towards the Assin Fosu Main Lorry Station.
Preliminary information available indicates that the motorbike suddenly veered off the road before crashing, leaving both security officers injured.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been established, and personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) have begun investigations to determine what led to the incident.
Bystanders Rush to Rescue Officers
People who were around the area at the time of the crash reportedly rushed to the aid of the two officers after seeing them injured.
Both men were subsequently transported to a health facility for emergency medical attention.
Amoakoh was, however, pronounced dead on arrival despite efforts to get him medical assistance following the crash.
The Police Officer survived the incident but sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his left arm and left leg.
He remains on admission receiving treatment as investigations into the crash continue.

Immigration Officer Was Riding as Pillion
Information gathered so far indicates that the deceased Immigration Officer was not riding the motorbike at the time of the crash but was seated behind the Police Officer as a pillion passenger.
The two officers were moving towards the Assin Fosu Main Lorry Station when the motorbike left the roadway.
Investigators are yet to establish what caused the rider to lose control of the motorbike.

There has also been no official confirmation at this stage on whether speed, the condition of the road, a mechanical fault or another factor contributed to the incident.

MTTD Takes Over Investigation
Personnel from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department have since visited the crash scene as part of efforts to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The damaged motorbike has been removed from the scene and taken away for examination.
The inspection is expected to form part of the broader investigation into how the motorbike veered off the road and whether any additional factors may have contributed to the fatal crash.
The MTTD is responsible for investigating road crashes and gathering evidence that may help establish the circumstances leading to such incidents.

Police Officer Remains Hospitalised
While the Immigration Officer lost his life, the Police Officer involved in the crash continues to receive medical treatment.
The fractures to his left arm and leg mean he remains under the care of health professionals as he recovers from the incident.
The crash has consequently left one member of Ghana’s security services dead and another seriously injured.
