Musician Patapaa, who gained notoriety in 2017 after releasing his debut album One Corner, has voiced his annoyance at people, particularly his detractors who believe he lacks skill and that his rise to stardom was the result of accident.
Patapaa called individuals who believed he was untalented and unfit for the music industry foolish people who are unable to recognize the treasure that is Patapaa.
He recently stated in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that he has been the target of constant mockery and that he hopes to overcome the unfavorable labeling that has been hurting his musical career by teaching the “ignorant folks.”
“Some radio and TV panellists/pundits, presenters, industry insiders, have always tried to label me as untalented which is false. This negative claim is affecting my progress in the music industry.”
“Interestingly, most of these people don’t even understand how the industry works but they will be playing experts.”

“That is where I have a problem, they come out and want to take every opportunity to trample on my brand. I want such people to know that it’s not easy to build a brand like mine yet they want to use short time to destroy everything I have worked hard for.”
“This has been happening for years so no matter how much I try to work hard, it’s very difficult because I have been branded as a man who doesn’t make sensible songs which is untrue and that narrative must stop.”
“Those who say or think that way are just ignorant. I am going to school them and put some discipline in the music game because some of their comments are born out of jealousy and not genuine appreciation of music,” he said.
Patapaa claimed he would have given up on music long ago if it weren’t for his supporters, known as Pa2PaSojas. His devoted following has served as his skeleton.
“My contribution to the music industry is recognised and valued by my fans, Pa2PaSojas. Those who don’t like my music are the fans of some other artistes and they are the ones who always want to denigrate me for their selfish interest. At least, they should know that my One Corner song kept Ghana on the global map,” he said.
