According to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the construction of the Pan African Heritage World Museum in the Central Region will boost the local economy.
According to the President, jobs would be generated in areas such as travel, commerce, and transportation.
President Akufo-Addo has also stated that his government would fund the building of the museum in Pomadze, Central Region.
According to the President, when finished, the Pan African Heritage World Museum would have a resting place for all stolen artifacts housed in international museums in Europe and elsewhere.
“The museum is unquestionably an ambitious pan-Africanism initiative, and the government is funding its construction accordingly.” The exact nature of the government’s assistance is the focus of continuing consultations between the executive council and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the findings of which will be made public.”
“I am pleased that, when finished, this project would include education in the museum’s gallery for tourists to learn more about the heritage, traditions, and indigenous values of our forefathers who showed their determination to preserve our environment,” the President added.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Akufo-Addo urged residents in the area not to impede the museum’s building.
“I encourage you, citizens of the area and those beyond this immediate catchment area, to keep in mind that you would be the ultimate beneficiaries of this initiative, so please do not obstruct developers or contractors. “You should have a friendly relationship,” he said.
Kojo Yankah, former President of the Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) and curator of the African University College of Communications, conceived of the museum, which would be Africa’s first.
The Museum is built in the form of a horn, which is associated with a trumpet, a musical instrument often used in religious ceremonies.
It is scheduled to be finished in July 2023.
