Rapper Sarkodie has denied having a feud with Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, three of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats musicians.
The Adonai hitmaker discussed his objectives and clarified that his songs were not intended to belittle Nigerian musicians in an interview with VoxAfrica.
He clarified that the songs did not denigrate the efforts of prominent African musicians, but rather served as a means of narrative and parallels to his own career trajectory.
He went on to say that rappers, not singers, would have been his target if he had wanted to take shots.
“Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido would never think I want to jab them because if I want to jab somebody, it has to be rappers. They are not rappers.
“I am just talking to rappers about how long I’ve been there and who else is best to use as reverence? Everybody knows Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake and Davido.

“And it’s true that I was in the industry before they all came in. It’s just references to how long I’ve been there. It’s not throwing jabs at anybody. These are incredible, amazing artists,” he said.
Brag, a song by Sarkodie that was released on Friday, May 10, became viral on social media. One of the tracks off his forthcoming The Championship EP, which is set for release on Friday, May 24, is called “Brag.”
Sarkodie claimed that people misunderstood what he was trying to say, but he nonetheless appreciated the enthusiasm and trend since it was “great PR.”
