The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has officially held a handover ceremony to induct its newly appointed Registrar into office.
The event, which brought together faculty, staff and students, was held at the University’s Academic Board Chamber marking the beginning of a new chapter for the institution as it continues to solidify its commitment to academic excellence, administrative innovation, and service to the community.
The New Registrar, Mr. Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye Esq. brings extensive experience in university administration and a vision focused on strengthening UCC’s operational efficiency, enhancing student services, and fostering greater collaboration within the university community.
Mr. Abbeyquaye Esq. takes over from Mr. Ebenezer Aggrey who served as the Acting Registrar following the retirement of Mr. Jeff Teye Emmanuel Onyame.
The University Governing Council at its meeting held on October 24, 2024, appointed him as the substantive registrar and his tenure of office begins November 1, 2024.
In a brief handing-over ceremony, he was presented with official documents, signifying the beginning of his tenure.
Accepting his new role Mr. Abbeyquaye Esq. pledged to lead with integrity, accountability, and transparency, while driving initiatives that align with the university’s strategic goals.
He expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in him by the University Council.
He pledged his commitment to enhancing the quality, efficiency and transparency of the University’s services ensuring that they remain aligned with the university’s vision.
Welcoming the newly sworn-in Registrar, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong urged staff to give the new Registrar their full support in order to grow the University and overcome its challenges.
On her part, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene asserted her confidence in Mr. Abbeyquaye, believing that he would continue to discharge his official duties to the best of his abilities.
Prior to his appointment as Registrar by the University Council, he served as the Director of Academic Affairs of the University.
