Ghanaian rapper and songwriter King Paluta, whose real name is Thomas Adjei Wireko, has submitted a petition to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board regarding the exclusion of his hit song “Makoma” from the 2025 nominations list.
In a letter dated March 18, 2025, addressed to the TGMA board, King Paluta’s management expressed serious concerns over what they consider an unjustified omission of “Makoma,” which they claim is one of the year’s most popular songs.
The petition noted that “Makoma” was submitted for several categories, including Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
However, the management team was disappointed to find the song missing from all categories when the official nominations were announced.
“This concern arises from the realization that none of the categories we submitted for consideration included our song,” the statement said.
King Paluta’s management emphasized their trust in the TGMA board’s capabilities and requested a clear explanation for what they called an “unpopular decision.”

“We have faith in the TGMA board and ask for a valid reason to be provided to our team, music lovers, and the public,” the petition stated.
The letter also assured the board that “Makoma” did not violate any moral or ethical standards and urged the organizers to reconsider the song for the relevant categories.
King Paluta, recognized for his lyrical talent and contributions to Ghana’s hiplife and rap scenes, has gained considerable attention in the music industry. “Makoma” has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike, raising questions about the validity of its exclusion from the nominations.
