Regarding Chef Failatu Abdul Razak’s effort at a cook-a-thon, Afua Asantewaa, the Ghanaian event planner who previously tried to break the record for the longest singing marathon for the Guinness World Records, is optimistic.
In a recent TV3 interview, she claimed to have previously expressed her gratitude to Chef Faila.
“I sent her [Chef Faila] well wishes by my social media,” she stated.
Afua Asantewaa added that her team would think about traveling to Tamale to support Faila as she starts her attempt.
“I don’t know her in person, and I don’t know if my team has been having discussions as to how we could go and support her. But of course, I have to rest for a while. So we are praying that before she ends or sets the record, we will say hello. We will pass by but if we are not able to, I know that she can,” she noted.
Afua continued, saying that she has been inundated with messages indicating that a large number of people plan to apply in the next few days for several Guinness World Records attempts.

“I mean, in this attempt, Ghanaians are ready for it and you should be ready for more. I have a lot in my DM’s. People are trying so hard to visit the Guinness World Record website to see what they can do. So we’ll be having a series of these attempts day in, day out. But I know she [Chef Faila] can do it. She has done it. If I was able to do it, she would equally do it,” she said.
Chef Failatu Abdul Razak began an attempt on January 1, 2024, to surpass the record for the longest cooking marathon held by the Guinness World Records.
She plans to beat Alan Fisher’s record of 119 hours by cooking for more than 120 hours from the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.
Meanwhile, Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, also referred to as Mama D, is awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records regarding his 144-hour cooking feat.
