University of Cape Coast Principal Auditor cum politician, Mr. Lawrence Ampah, also known as Pablo, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party in the Cape Coast North Constituency to ensure they make the right decision in choosing a candidate to contest for the 2024 Cape Coast North parliamentary seat.
He explained that the failure of the delegates to present the right candidate during both the 2016 and 2020 General elections is what caused the party to lose the Cape Coast North Seat two consecutive times.
He further lamented that “the NPP in Cape Coast North seems to be throwing away the tactic it uses to win parliamentary elections in the constituency.”
Mr. Ampah also mentioned that the time has come also to change the narrative that the Cape Coast South seat belongs to the National Democratic Congress and the Cape Coast North seat belongs to the NPP.
“In Cape Coast or other places, what is usually said is that it looks like Cape Coast North is for the NPP, whereas Cape Coast South is for the NDC because the NDC has been winning it for some time now. We can even close our eyes and say the seat is for the NDC, but it is not like that,” he continued.
Meanwhile, speaking on Biribi Soronko on Saturday, August 19, 2023, Mr. Lawrence Ampah opined that he is the ideal candidate to help the NPP recapture the Cape Coast North parliamentary seat in the 2024 General elections.
The former Assembly member for Abura Etsirfi-Eyifua says he is the yardstick to beat the NDC Cape Coast North Constituency parliamentary candidate in the 2024 December polls.
“Now to win back the Cape Coast North Constituency parliamentary seat we need someone who is the people’s choice. Who is this person? Someone who stays with the people and who understands the people, someone who is always at the beck and call of the people, someone who has worked with the party even when the party was in opposition, someone who has come not only for the post but has served the party for a long time, therefore qualifying the person to contest for the Cape Coast North parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP,” he stressed.
On July 19, 2023, some delegates of the NPP on July 19, 2023 picked nomination forms for Mr. Lawrence Ampah to contest for the Cape Coast North Constituency seat in the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.
According to the delegates, Mr. Ampah is a true grass-root person who has faithfully served the NPP from the rank of a polling agent executive through to assembly member.
