Supporters of Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a defeated presidential candidate in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, have formed the “Ghana Needs PHD 2024” campaign. The campaign seeks popular support for his independent presidential run in the 2024 elections.
The group, “Ghana Needs Patriotism, Honesty, and Dedication (PHD),” has extended an open call to like-minded persons to support Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for president.
Despite the recent defeat in the NPP primaries, supporters think that supporting Mr. Agyapong as an independent candidate is critical for Ghana’s progress.

Mrs. Cynthia Ocran, National Coordinator of Ghana Needs PHD, stated at a press conference held today (December 12, 2023) in Abossey Okai, an Accra suburb, that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s track record, coupled with his commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and social welfare, aligns seamlessly with the nation’s aspirations.
She added that the PHD 2024 campaign would focus educating and informing the general public about the importance of supporting Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s independent candidacy, engaging and encouraging new members to join the campaign, and expanding Mr. Agyapong’s support base.
She stated that delegates have been selected across the 16 regions and 275 constituencies, including President, Vice President, Chairman, Secretaries, Women Organisers, Organisers, and Youth Organisers.
These MPs will lead the campaign in their respective districts in order to achieve a big victory in the 2024 elections.
Mrs. Ocran also stated that plans are being made to ask Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to run as an independent candidate. The organization is looking forward to discussing its vision with the public and seeking options for collaborative effort to contribute to Ghana’s growth.
Mr. Baffour Asare, the group’s PRO, believes that the Assin Central legislator epitomizes patriotism, honesty, and discipline and is essential for driving Ghana forward.
Furthermore, he stated that the organization is set to increase its support through grassroots mobilization, public engagement projects, and various sorts of help.
Kaakyireba Kwabena Asante, the organization’s Deputy Organizer, claimed that the group will persuade the former presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party to run as an independent candidate.
He feels that Mr. Agyapong is the only one who has Ghana’s best interests at heart and who can lead Ghana to the promised land.
“Ghana needs you now more than ever, so heed to our call and contest in the forthcoming General elections,” he said.
