The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally urged foreign embassies and high commissions in Ghana to ensure humane and dignified treatment of Ghanaian visa applicants, following widespread complaints about poor conditions at visa centres.
In a Note Verbale sent to all diplomatic missions, the Ministry expressed concerns over reports of inadequate waiting areas, long appointment delays, inaccessible visa application websites, and the lack of emergency medical services at some consulates.
A statement issued on February 25, 2025, stressed the need for embassies to address these issues and ensure a more efficient and respectful application process.

“It is the Ministry’s expectation that foreign missions will respond positively and appropriately to this request,” the statement read.
The Ministry assured the public that it would monitor compliance while respecting the autonomy of embassies in visa issuance decisions. It reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for fair and transparent visa processes that uphold the dignity of Ghanaian applicants.
