Amponsem Ahenfie, Dunkwa Sept. 11 – The Denkyira Traditional Council has called on the government to urgently remove the Central North Police Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, and the Upper Denkyira West District Chief Executive (DCE), Isaac Nsiah, over what it describes as actions that threaten peace and stability in the Denkyira State.
The Council made the call at a press conference at the Amponsem Ahenfie in Dunkwa, where it expressed concern over what it described as the involvement of the two officials in chieftaincy matters and other activities that could deepen tensions within the traditional area.
Addressing the media on behalf of the Council, the Denkyira Gyaasehene, Barimah Siaw Panin III, alleged that DCOP Acquaye had shown support for individuals whose actions, according to the Council, had the potential to create tension and conflict in the Denkyira State.
The Council specifically cited what it described as the Police Commander’s support for the Dunkwa Hene, saying such conduct was contrary to the authority and position of the Overlord of Denkyira.
The traditional authorities alleged that instead of protecting the peace and supporting the legitimate traditional leadership, the Police Commander had provided protection and support to persons they accused of causing trouble within the Denkyira State.

The Council also accused the Upper Denkyira West DCE, Isaac Nsiah, of meddling in chieftaincy affairs in the district.
According to the Council, the DCE’s involvement in traditional matters was inappropriate and could aggravate existing tensions and undermine the authority of the traditional leadership.
The press conference, which was attended by Nananom, traditional leaders and elders, highlighted what the Council described as increasing interference by government officials in matters it said traditionally fell within the jurisdiction of chiefs.
The Council appealed to the government to act swiftly by removing the two officials, warning that their continued presence and alleged activities could further threaten peace and stability in the Denkyira State.
The traditional authorities stressed the need for government officials, particularly those responsible for security and local administration, to work closely with traditional leaders to preserve peace rather than engage in actions that could deepen divisions within the traditional area.
The Council said it remained committed to peace and the protection of the dignity and authority of Denkyira traditional leadership.
It, however, insisted that the government must take immediate steps to address the concerns raised and ensure that peace and stability are maintained in the Denkyira State.
