Twitter has confirmed a special collaboration with David “Davido” Adeleke, who will host his first Twitter Space to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his first single and involvement in the Nigerian music industry.
The Space will take place today, Friday, May 14, 2021, at 6:00pm (WAT), and will be co-hosted by Adekunle “Mayorkun” Mayowa Emmanuel, a fellow musician and acquaintance.
Twitter has launched two custom emojis triggered by the hashtags: #DavidoAt10, #TheBaddest10years, #OBOis10, and #Echoke, a common phrase invented by the hitmaker himself. On Friday, during the Twitter Space, “OBO,” as he is affectionately known, will interact and address fan questions, as well as pin the best tweets to The Space.
Davido is not only one of Africa’s biggest and most celebrated musicians; he is also one of the most followed and mentioned Nigerian users and account holders on Twitter.
For the first time, Davido’s Twitter Space will enable his fans to engage with him on a more personal level through a live audio chat. Spaces promote and enable genuine and accessible debates and discussions with the honesty, complexity, scope, and strength that only the human voice can have. It enables users to create closer and more meaningful relationships with thousands of listeners all over the world by allowing for large conversations as well as intimacy.
Mayorkun, Davido’s boss, Asa Asika, and DMW’s Creative Director, Black Tycoone will all be in attendance at the Twitter space function.
How Spaces work
When anyone you follow starts or talks in a Space on Twitter for iOS and Android, it will show at the top of your timeline as a purple bubble for as long as it is online. As you join a Space as a listener, you may use emojis to react to what you read, view any pinned Tweets, follow along with captions, Tweet or DM the Space, or request to talk.
