The Bank of Ghana has outlined a comprehensive year-long programme of activities to commemorate the Cedi@60 anniversary, set to unfold over the next 12 months nationwide.
Over the period, the activities will focus on education, public engagement and legacy-building.
Unveiling the year-long programme of activities during the launch of the Cedi@60 on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Pandit Johnson Asiama emphasized that the celebration is aimed at involving the public to understanding the monetary sovereignty and the BoG’s vital role in Ghana’s economic stability.
The activities will include exhibitions to tell the story of the journey of the Ghana Cedi, public lectures, and school tours that will engage students, professionals, and communities on the importance of monetary sovereignty.
The activities will also include engagements with the Ghanaian diaspora, highlighting the role of remittances and international trust in supporting the Cedi’s strength.
Dr. Johnson Asiama emphasized that the activities are tailored to all age groups from school children learning the value of money with physical currency to fintech entrepreneurs developing the future of digital finance.
He urged all and sundry to partake in the activities emphasizing “the story of the Cedi is the story for us all”
