The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has issued a series of strategic measures to mitigate the risk of flooding in the central region during the impending rainy season.

In a statement issued by the regional directorate on Monday, May 19, 2025, NADMO emphasized its collaboration with key holders to implement proactive interventions aimed at enhancing community resilience.

The interventions as outlined by NADMO include ongoing public sensitization campaigns, desilting drains, enforcing building regulations and giving attention to early warning systems.

Stakeholders such as the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Environmental Protection Agency, local assemblies and community leaders are expected to roll out these interventions to safeguard lives and properties.

Residents within the central region have also been advised to play their role by engaging in flood prevention activities with NADMO emphasizing that “Flood Prevention is a shared responsibility.

Residents are to avoid the dumping refuse into drains and water bodies, cooperate with local authorities during enforcement exercises and stay informed and respond to weather alerts and safety advice.
