President Akufo-Addo has called on the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to confidently approach the examination and give their best.
In a heartfelt message to the candidates, he said “Remember, your hard work and dedication have brought you this far, and a bright future awaits.
“Stay focused, remain calm, and give it your best effort.” He added.
A total of 570, 461candidates will sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), starting today, July 8, 2024.
Of the total candidates, 282,648 are males and 286,447 are females, with 19,506 schools participating.
The examination will be held at 2,123 centres across the country.
For private candidates, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has registered 1,366 candidates, with 735 males and 631 females.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the significance of the BECE as a milestone in the candidate’s educational journey.
He therefore advised every candidate to eschew any form of examination malpractices.
“Honesty and integrity are values that will serve you well throughout your lives. Approach each paper with a clear mind, answer the questions to the best of your ability, and trust in the knowledge and skills you have acquired over the years.”
He added that with the free senior high school policy, each candidate has the opportunity to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
Wishing them the best of luck, the president emphasized that the nation is behind them and proud of their growth.
