A heartwarming atmosphere filled the studios of ATL FM on February 14 as couples shared strategies for solving love life problems including overcoming frustrations during the annual Love Gift Box organized every Valentine’s Day by the Campus Broadcasting Services Centre, UCC.
This year, the Love Gift Box programme created a platform for couples to share their love stories with the world for them to be awarded various gifts including a romantic dinner at the plush Elmina Beach resort in the Central Region
Mr and Mrs Theophilus Okrane, who have been married for 12 years emerged the winning couple with a compelling story of how they overcame their differences and weathered the storm to be where they are today.
Sharing their beautiful story, they emphasized that the essence of a successful relationship, particularly in marriage, encompasses forgiveness, compromise, and the ability to let go of minor issues.
“By approaching challenges with a forgiving heart and a willingness to compromise, couples can navigate difficulties more effectively. It’s crucial not to dwell on every disagreement but rather to resolve conflicts promptly.
Additionally, maturity, hard work, and a continuous learning process are vital components in fostering a thriving and fulfilling marriage. Marriage is a journey that requires mental maturity and a positive perspective on life to navigate its challenges and experiences.”
Meanwhile, the Director of the Counselling Centre of UCC, Dr Mrs. Rita Holm Adzovie says couples and individuals in relationships must ensure that unhealthy gaps are bridged to avoid cheating and confrontations.
She said the gaps could be physical, financial, or even psychological.
Dr. Adzovie cautioned couples to be careful in open relationships as cheating can set in without a partner knowing it.
She added “For some people, this cheating comes because of distance. I mean, it shouldn’t be the reason. But unfortunately, if I don’t live with my partner, it’s easy for one person to start filling in the loneliness by bringing in other people. I think that we can all work on being faithful to our partners. Yes, we need to respect each other.”
She therefore urged couples to remain faithful to each other and resolve issues when they crop up within the relationship adding that a partner should not be held at ransom.
While commending ATL FM on the theme: chosen for this year’s celebration, she emphasized the need to build trust and respect in a relationship.
“Respecting each other in a relationship involves valuing time spent together, communicating respectfully, and allowing personal space. It’s important not to intrude on privacy by checking phones or questioning changes like passwords, as these actions can be viewed as disrespectful and may lead to embarrassment,” she continued.
Another Couple, Mr. Seth Nkrumah and Miss Sabina Obeng who have been in a budding relationship emerged as the 1st runner-up.
In all 5 couples received gifts for participating in the Love Gift Box program for the Valentine’s Day edition on ATL FM, CBS.
The first 3 winners received a plush treat to an evening dinner at the Elmina Beach Resort while the last two couples received 5yards of African print each.
