The much awaited film “Water and Garri,” starring Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, is slated for release in 2024.
The artist disclosed on Twitter that the two-year duration of the film’s production was devoted to making the movie ‘Water and Garri,’ which was inspired by the 2021 EP.
“…I must say this is probably one of the most adventurous, fulfilling things I’ve done,” Tiwa Savage wrote in her post.
The “Somebody’s Son” singer will also be playing an actor for the first time in her feature film debut.
“I feel blessed and honoured not only to be making my debut as a lead actor but also to have executively produced this film. I honestly can’t wait to take you guys along with me on this next phase of my life and art… I’m just getting started,” she added.
‘Water and Garri’ will be accessible on Amazon Prime, Tiwa Savage announced, however she did not disclose the release date. This is over a year after she made the announcement that the movie was being made. Along with co-directing the movie with Nigerian director Meji Alabi, Tiwa Savage is the lead actress.

According to Screen Daily, ‘Water and Garri’ depicts Tiwa’s character, Aisha, who works as a fashion designer in the US, going back to her hometown to face her shame.
The website disclosed that the film was shot in Cape Coast, in the Central Region of Ghana, and produced by the African production company Unbound Studios and its subsidiary JM Films.
As of February of that year, 2023, Screen Daily revealed that filming was already completed.
