Former President and 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, believes the party has learned from its contentious defeat in the 2020 elections.
President Mahama told party leaders and supporters in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, that the NDC will put all measures in place to win on the ground and avoid resorting to the Supreme Court for redress in the 2024 elections.
“That lesson was brutally learned, and it will not be forgotten. Elections are won or lost at the polling stations and collation levels, not at the Supreme Court,” he said.
The former President further said that the NDC boosted its votes in the Presidential elections from about 4 million to over 6 million, adding that “but for arm twisting, we would have had 145 seats and gained a clear majority in Parliament.”
He also praised the people of the Upper East Region for contributing to the NDC’s efforts by delivering the party 14 of the 15 parliamentary seats.
He said, “We’ve learned from our errors.” We’ll score 15 over 15 in this area the next time.”
President Mahama is touring Ghana to thank Ghanaians for their support and for voting for him and the NDC parliamentary candidates in the 2020 elections.
