The 1998 Alumni year group of the University of Cape Coast has donated items worth about seven thousand five hundred Ghana Cedis to the University of Cape Coast hospital. The donation was to augment the facility’s delivery of health care.
The items included seven (7) nebulizers; two (2) boxes of gloves, twenty (20) gallons of liquid soap and five (5) gallons of alcohol.
Organizer of the 1998-year group, Christa Osei-Mensah told ATL FM News the group saw it necessary to give back to its alma mater in such trying times.

“Since the university hospital also served us when we were here, we felt that we should come back home and give the little that we can in support of the hospital in this difficult period.”
She also extended a call to other year groups and philanthropists to render the needed assistance.
“The little that we have, we can share with the hospital especially, because we are not in ordinary times and they need our support. We can encourage them in cash, in kind and even by our words.
Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Evans Ekanem who received the donation admonished the general public against getting disturbed over Ghana’s Covid-19 situation though the numbers are increasing speedily. For him, Ghana’s situation is one of the best as the death rate seems very low.
The central region has recorded 2,819 suspected cases with 2,819 specimens taken for testing. Of the number, 1,298 negative results have been received, 1, 457 results pending and 64 positive cases confirmed and 5 imported cases from the Greater Accra region , making a total of 69 cases.

The district distribution of the cases shows Cape Coast has 19, Efutu– 1, Komenda-Edna-Eguafo-Abrem- 3, Awutu Senya East (Kasoa)-24 and Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese-3. Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam has one (1) confirmed case, Mfantseman-8, Agona West 2, Gomoa West 6 and Ekumfi 1.
