Amponsem Ahenfie, Dunkwa – The Denkyirahene, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsem IV, has been sworn in as President of the Denkyira Traditional Council, with a pledge to promote peace, unity and development in the Denkyira State.
The swearing-in took place at a meeting of the Traditional Council at the Amponsem Ahenfie in Dunkwa, the administrative capital of the Denkyira State, following the formal installation of the 26th Denkyirahene and the receipt of his gazette certificate.
The High Court Judge at Dunkwa, Justice Kwame Polley, administered the Official Oath and the Oath of Allegiance to the new President of the Traditional Council.
Justice Polley congratulated Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsem IV on his installation and commended the Denkyirahemaa, Nana Ama Ayensua III, and the traditional authorities for ensuring a peaceful process.

He also gave an assurance that cases involving the Denkyira Traditional Area would receive the necessary attention at the court, following an appeal by the Denkyirahemaa for assistance in resolving chieftaincy and other disputes.
Speaking on behalf of the divisional and sub-chiefs, the Gyaasehene, Barima Siaw Panin III, pledged the full support and cooperation of the traditional authorities to the new President.
Peace and development
In his acceptance speech, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsem IV expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities for the confidence reposed in him and said peace, unity and development would be his immediate priorities.
He appealed to chiefs and other traditional authorities in the area to seek amicable settlement of disputes through the appropriate traditional mechanisms instead of allowing such matters to linger in court.
The Denkyirahene expressed particular concern about the Diaso chieftaincy dispute, urging the factions involved to resolve their differences ahead of major traditional events planned for next year.
He disclosed that the Denkyira State would perform the final funeral rites for the late Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsem III next year, after which the Odwira celebration would be held.
He said it was important for the kingdom to remain united and peaceful ahead of the events, stressing that Diaso, as the Adonteng Divisional Head, should take its rightful place within the Denkyira Traditional Council.
Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsem IV also thanked the Denkyirahemaa, the Denkyira Abusuapanin, Nana Ponfo Agyemang III, and other traditional leaders for their roles in his selection and installation.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Anthony Akwesi Sarpong, the Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Rudolf Amoakoh Gyampah, and other government officials.
