The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested ten students of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) for allegedly manufacturing and trafficking cannabis-infused drinks and ice creams.
The arrest was made through an intelligence-led operation that took place during the University’s Students Representative Council (SRC) Hall Week celebrations from Friday, July 31 to Saturday, August 1, 2026.
In a Facebook post, NACCOC said the arrested group includes a 23-year-old suspected ringleader, Priscilla Tetteh, alongside nine other young men believed to be part of the illegal transaction during the school’s event.
Preliminary investigations by the Commission suggest that the group operated an established syndicate focused on distributing cannabis-infused drinks and ice creams, posing a severe threat to public health and the safety of young people.
The Commission strongly warned against the illegal manufacturing, distributing, possessing and selling of cannabis-infused food and beverages, emphazing that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
According to the Commission, all ten suspects are currently in NACOC custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
