World Vision Ghana is gearing up to launch a major national strategy aimed at transforming access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) across the country as it unveils its 2026–2030 WASH Business Plan and Universal WASH Service Coverage Initiative.

The launch event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, where government leaders, development partners, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and international agencies will convene to endorse a renewed national push for universal WASH access.

A New National Strategy for Safe Water and Hygiene

Under the theme “Mapping the Blue Thread,” the new strategy outlines World Vision Ghana’s five-year roadmap toward achieving safe, equitable, and sustainable WASH services, in alignment with:

  • Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6)—ensuring universal access to clean water and sanitation
  • World Vision International’s global pledge to extend sustainable WASH services to 50 million people by 2030

In Ghana, the business plan targets 23 districts and will be implemented over five to seven years, using an integrated approach that links water and sanitation infrastructure with education, health, and livelihoods programs.

This integration, World Vision says, is essential to improving community resilience, reducing disease, and elevating overall well-being—especially in underserved and rural communities.

High-Level Launch Event to Gather National and Global Stakeholders

The launch will bring together a broad coalition of partners, including:

  • Senior government officials
  • Development agencies and donors
  • Civil society and community-based organisations
  • UN agencies
  • Private sector players
  • Academia and the media

Attendees will engage in:

  • Keynote speeches from government and development leaders
  • A detailed presentation of Ghana’s roadmap to universal WASH access
  • A panel discussion featuring technical experts and community representatives
  • Exhibitions showcasing new WASH technologies, products, and innovations

The event will climax with the unveiling of a national WASH slogan alongside a pledge-signing ceremony, symbolizing collective commitment to ensuring safe water and sanitation for every Ghanaian.

Driving Collective Action for Universal WASH Coverage

World Vision Ghana’s new strategy places strong emphasis on partnership, accountability, sustainability, and community ownership. The organization says achieving nationwide WASH access is impossible without:

  • Strong collaboration between government and development actors
  • Increased investment in WASH infrastructure
  • Behaviour change interventions
  • Strengthened monitoring and evaluation systems

By mobilizing multiple sectors, the initiative seeks to accelerate Ghana’s progress toward eliminating waterborne diseases, closing inequality gaps, and guaranteeing reliable clean water and dignified sanitation for all households.

A National Commitment to Health and Dignity

The 2026–2030 WASH Business Plan signals a transformative era for water and hygiene services in Ghana. With this new strategic blueprint, World Vision Ghana aims not only to expand access but also to ensure long-term sustainability and community-led management of WASH facilities nationwide.

Through this coordinated national effort, the organization hopes to drive meaningful impact—improving health outcomes, strengthening resilience, and enhancing the quality of life for millions of Ghanaians.
