The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have begun scheduled maintenance works across five regions today, Thursday, October 9, as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen electricity reliability and improve service delivery.
The affected regions include Greater Accra, Tema, Ashanti, Central, and Volta, where various communities will experience temporary power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
In a public notice, ECG explained that the exercise forms part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing the stability and efficiency of its distribution network.
Power supply will be disrupted in parts of Otinibi, Danfa, Oyibi, Amrahia, and New Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region, as well as Adanseman, Cassava Farm, and Israel-Alhaji and their surrounding areas.
The Tema enclave will also be affected, particularly Klagon, Mobole, Jerusalem, Promised Land, Apollonia, and Data Centre, along with neighboring communities.
Residents in the Central Region are also expected to experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., particularly around Ankamu Junction, Apam District Assembly, Gomoa Dago, and Manford.
In the Ashanti Region, maintenance teams will be working in several areas, including Atwima Agogo, Mankranso, Sepaase, Nkawie, Abuakwa, Tanoso, Afari Military Hospital, and Ntensere, among others.
Meanwhile, GRIDCo has scheduled a separate two-hour maintenance exercise at the Aflao Bulk Supply Point in the Volta Region between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
This will temporarily affect power supply in Aflao, Denu, Abor, Keta, Dzodze, Agavedzi, and parts of Akatsi.
Both agencies emphasized that the exercise is a routine technical upgrade designed to prevent system failures and improve network performance nationwide.
“These maintenance activities are necessary to maintain a stable and reliable power supply,” ECG stated.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience that may arise and appreciate the patience of our cherished customers.”
Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions and unplug sensitive appliances during the outage periods.
