The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially opened applications for the promotion of qualified teaching staff to the ranks of Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.
In a circular signed by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi, GES invited suitably qualified serving teachers and officers to submit applications for consideration.
Qualifications
According to the notice, applicants must have attained specific ranks and served the required years before becoming eligible:
- Deputy Director: Must have been promoted to Assistant Director I on or before 2020 and served continuously at post since then.
- Assistant Director I: Must have been promoted to Assistant Director II on or before 2020 and served continuously at post since then.
- Assistant Director II: Must have been promoted to Principal Superintendent on or before 2020 and served continuously at post since then.
- Principal Superintendent: Must have been promoted to Senior Superintendent I on or before 2020 and served continuously at post since then.
Teachers holding Master’s or PhD degrees are also eligible to apply, provided the qualification was obtained under approved GES programmes. However, such certificates must not have been acquired before a candidate’s last promotion.
Application Process
GES indicated that the application process is strictly online and must be completed via https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or through the QR code provided in the release. Applicants are required to upload:
- A passport-size photograph,
- Last promotion/appointment/upgrading letter, and
- The highest academic certificate used for promotion.
All documents must be uploaded in PDF format (except passport photographs). The application window opens on Monday, August 18, 2025, and closes on Friday, September 5, 2025.
The notice emphasized that only eligible applicants who meet the stated criteria will be considered.
