Award-winning Ghanaian artist Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, has raised concerns about perceived unfair treatment by the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government since their return to power.

During a media tour on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, across various platforms of the Multimedia Group, Stonebwoy expressed his views as part of promotional activities for his upcoming Torcher EP.

In an interview with Osei Bonsu on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show, he highlighted what he sees as favoritism in the government’s selection of artists for major events, claiming that only a limited number of musicians benefit from these opportunities.

Stonebwoy recounted being overlooked for a recent government launch event, despite being available in the country. He expressed his disappointment and mentioned that he reached out to a minister for clarification.

He stated, “Sometimes, artists are lined up in a biased manner. When opportunities arise, they tend to favor only one side. I learned about a government launch only after it took place, even though I was available. I called the minister to remind her that I and other prominent artists who could elevate the event were present.”

The Burniton Music Group CEO emphasized that he is not alone in experiencing such treatment and argued that favoritism in artist selection is a common issue in many countries. He further alleged that only artists with close connections to influential political figures are consistently chosen for state functions.

Stonebwoy also pointed out that this perceived bias often subjects sidelined musicians to public criticism, with some questioning their loyalty and commitment to national interests.

A video of Stonebwoy discussing his concerns about being sidelined by the NDC government is available below.
