Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has rendered an unqualified apology to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after defying the party’s directive not to participate in the constituency’s parliamentary primary rerun.
Speaking after an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Alisa Hotel, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie stated that despite going against the party’s instructions, she remains committed to the NPP and offered her apology in good faith.
“This is my party and I will continue to serve it. We all make mistakes. I have apologized, the matter is resolved, and we move on,” she said.
The NPP’s Planning Committee Chairman, Joseph Osei-Owusu, confirmed that Nana Akua’s apology was accepted in good faith and emphasized the need for party members to respect party structures going forward.
Meanwhile, Mr. Osei-Owusu announced that the NPP will proceed with its annual delegates’ conference scheduled for July 19, 2025, despite calls from some party leaders to postpone the event.
“The National Council, after careful consideration, has decided the conference will go ahead as planned due to the level of preparations and commitments already made,” he added.
