The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast, under the leadership of its 62nd President, Abraham Norman Nortey, officially unveiled the institution’s first-ever SRC Cloth on Saturday, July 5, 2025 to symbolize student unity, identity, and legacy through a lasting visual representation.
Described by President Norman Nortey as a “legacy initiative,” the cloth is intended to reflect the shared values of the student body, boldness, intelligence, unity, and perseverance.
In his address, the SRC President explained that the cloth represents more than attire; it is a visual articulation of student empowerment and vision.
“This is more than clothing,” Nortey remarked. “It’s a representation of our collective voice and what we stand for as a student body. This cloth symbolizes our unity, our resilience, and our commitment to shaping the future.”
The cloth features the council’s official motto, “The Voice of Students is the Power of the Future,” a slogan introduced during President Nortey’s administration to emphasize the critical role students play in national development and institutional progress.
The design, rich in symbolism and aesthetic appeal, is intended for use during official SRC events, university ceremonies, leadership transitions, and as a cherished keepsake for both current students and alumni.

The unveiling adds to a growing list of impactful projects under Norman’s administration, many of which have centered on student welfare, accessibility, and innovation.
These include the 10GB Data Bundle Initiative, the construction of the Norman Bus Stop, the SWLT Footbridge, the SRC Bolt Emergency Ride Service, Free Meals for Hospitalized Students, the SRC Scholarship Fund, and a successful NHIS Registration and Renewal Drive.
President Nortey, whose term is nearing its conclusion, noted that the cloth would serve as a long-lasting symbol of what can be achieved when leadership is anchored in service.
“It will stand as a constant reminder that when vision is matched with action, student leadership can leave a permanent mark,” he said.
The cloth is now available to students at GHS 50.00 per yard.
