Instagram announced on Monday that users can now listen to previews of Spotify songs shared in Stories. Previously, while users could share Spotify tracks, the songs played without sound, merely providing a link to the streaming service. Now, when a song is posted to a Story, viewers can hear a preview directly within Instagram.
This small but significant update enhances music sharing and discovery on the platform without requiring users to leave the app.

The feature follows a recent rollout for Instagram Notes, allowing users to stream Spotify songs directly within their notes, showcasing their music preferences in real time.

These new capabilities aim to position Instagram as a central hub for music discovery, potentially encouraging longer user engagement and increasing its competitiveness with TikTok, which currently leads in the music space and influences global music charts.
Additionally, Instagram announced the introduction of new fonts for Stories and Reels, starting with a limited-time font inspired by singer-songwriter Rosalía’s handwriting. Users can unlock secret hand-drawn symbols by typing characters like “:-),” “***,” and “<3,” according to Instagram.
