Google has launched an experimental app called Doppl, which utilizes AI to help users visualize how different outfits would look on them. The app, announced on Thursday, is available on iOS and Android in the U.S.
Doppl enables users to virtually try on outfits using a digital version of themselves. To begin, users upload a full-body photo and can then select images of various outfits from sources like thrift stores or social media. The app creates an image of the user wearing the chosen outfit and can also generate AI-driven videos to demonstrate how the outfit would appear in real life.
Users can save their favorite looks, browse through their virtual try-ons, and share them with friends. Google states that Doppl builds on recently launched virtual try-on features in Google Shopping, making the experience more accessible and interactive. This launch may also help Google gather data to inform future developments in this area.

While Google has previously offered virtual try-on technology focused on diverse models, Doppl allows users to see clothes on an animated version of themselves.
“We hope Doppl helps you explore your style in new and exciting ways,” Google stated in a blog post. However, as an experimental app, it may not always provide accurate fit or appearance details.
It remains unclear when or if Google will expand Doppl to additional regions.
