Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist Epixode has revealed that he has never smoked or consumed alcohol throughout his life.
In an exclusive interview with Nana Romeo on Accra-based Okay FM, the “Avatar” hitmaker was asked if he had ever embraced a “bad boy” lifestyle during his music career. Epixode confidently responded, “No. I’ve never smoked anything smokable or ever gotten drunk.”
He attributes his disciplined lifestyle to his upbringing and conscious choices made early on. “Fortunately for me, I come from a good home. My mum was on tours, and my dad worked in a bank, so I had early exposure to life.”

Despite growing up in a challenging environment, Epixode emphasized that his structured family life and determination to be different shaped his character and values. “Anyone who knows me well knows I don’t engage in those habits. It was a personal decision because I wanted to stand out.”
Addressing stereotypes often associated with reggae music, Epixode stressed that drug use is not essential for creativity or lyrical talent. “Reggae artists don’t necessarily need to smoke or get high to create good music or meaningful lyrics,” he stated, encouraging emerging reggae musicians to stay true to their craft and resist negative influences.
His comments have received praise on social media, with many admiring his self-discipline and refreshing perspective in an industry where such choices are often seen as unconventional.
