At Monday’s WWDC conference, Apple introduced the new macOS Tahoe, featuring a range of updates focused on Apple Intelligence, continuity with the iPhone, and Spotlight search enhancements.
The new “Liquid Glass” design in macOS Tahoe offers a sleek and customizable aesthetic—users can finally change folder icons to pink or any other color of their choice. Similar to iOS 26, this design refresh emphasizes a reflective, transparent style reminiscent of real glass. However, the real improvements lie beneath the surface, leveraging Apple Intelligence to enhance user experience.
macOS Tahoe enhances integration with the iPhone, displaying Live Activities from iOS, such as notifications for your Uber Eats order on your lock screen or Dynamic Island. With new Continuity features, Mac products will now include a Phone app for the first time, alongside updates to the iOS Phone app like Call Screening and Hold Assist. Live Translation will also be available in the Phone, Messages, and FaceTime apps.
One of the most significant upgrades in macOS Tahoe comes through Spotlight. Utilizing Apple’s AI capabilities, Spotlight will deliver “intelligent” results, predicting what users are most likely searching for and suggesting actions based on common activities or current tasks.
Users can perform actions directly from Spotlight; in the WWDC keynote demo, an Apple executive demonstrated typing an email’s subject line and body text in Spotlight and sending it without opening the Mail app.
The upgraded Spotlight also introduces quick keys, allowing users to customize short character strings for specific actions, such as typing “AR” to set a reminder or “SM” to send a message.

macOS Tahoe will also include major updates from iOS 26, featuring Genmoji and Image Playground upgrades, AI-supported reminders, a new Apple Games app, backgrounds and polls in Messages, and a new FaceTime landing page. Additionally, the Journal app is set to debut in Tahoe.
Apple announced that macOS Tahoe will be available this fall, with a public beta launching next month. Developers can access an early version now.
