The Apewosika-Kokoado traditional authorities have enstooled a new development queen, Obaapa Nana Esi Maanan I known in private life as Caroline Cobbinah.

The enstoolment was held during a brief but colourful ceremony at Manhyia Fie at Apewosika – Kokoado on 3rd June 2025.

During the ceremony, Omanhen of Apewosika-Kokaodo and Mawerehen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Oyeadieyie Nana Kweku Enu the third (III) remarked that the enstoolment of Obaapa Nana Esi Maanan I marked a significant moment of unity in the community and will further his developmental agenda for his people.

He, therefore, urged the Apewosika-Kokaodo community to support the tenure of the new development queen.

Addressing the gathering after her enstoolment, Obaapa Nana Esi Maanan I expressed commitment to improving access to quality education for all children by investing in schools, supporting teachers, and providing opportunities for youth to thrive.

She further emphasized the need to address early pregnancy among girls through education and mentorship to help them stay in school.

“Also, for our young girls, many face the burden of early pregnancy, which can limit their potential and dreams. Together, we will promote education, mentorship, and support systems to help our girls make informed choices and stay in school.”

Recognizing unemployment as a major issue affecting not just the unemployed, their families and communities, Nana Esi Manaan I underscored the need to work with local leaders, businesses, and international partners to create more jobs here in Cape Coast.

“We have a lot of land here that we can develop to provide more jobs and financial support here in this country, and that’s what I aim to do,” she continued.

Additionally, she aims to empower women through education, skills training, and economic opportunities while working to prevent violence against women, ensuring that every woman and girl can live with dignity, safety, and hope for the future.

“Nana Kweku Enu III honored his biological mother, Esi Maanan, by dedicating the vacant seat to her memory” said Ebusuapanyin Kofi Bosomtwe, the Ebusuapanyin of the Adwenadze Royal Family. He added that Obaapanyin Esi Maanan, known for her unifying spirit, compassion, humility, and dedication, served as an inspiration for the new Mpontuhemaa.

Based in the United States, Nana Esi Maanan I brings extensive experience working with NGOs and embassies on numerous projects. She pledged to bring positive change to the community, focusing on schools and promoting behavioral changes among residents. Her experiences working with diverse groups from Kenya, South Africa, the UK, US, France, and Italy are expected to guide her partnerships to foster development in Kokoado, Apewosika, and Duakor.

She emphasized that collective action is essential, encouraging residents to take personal responsibility for the community’s well-being.

“I welcome your suggestions and what you see on a daily basis that needs to be changed. I cannot do this alone,” she said adding that real change requires all of us, elders, youth, men, and women working together in unity and love. Together, we can do what’s best to benefit our people and our land.

“Now, on this journey, I promise to serve with love, humility, and unwavering dedication. I ask for everyone’s prayers and your support, your love, and your partnership as we work together to build a land that honours our past and embraces a future filled with hope and love,” she added.

The enstoolment ceremony was attended by traditional leaders from the surrounding communities of Duakor, Amamoma, and Akotokyir.
