Spotify has announced that it has resolved an outage that left tens of thousands of users worldwide unable to stream music on the app. The company confirmed that the platform is now “back up and functioning normally.”
While Spotify has not provided details on the cause of the outage, it previously stated that reports of a “security hack” were “completely inaccurate.” Downdetector, which monitors online service issues, recorded around 20,000 reports of Spotify malfunctioning at approximately 13:30 GMT on Wednesday.

In response to rising user complaints, Spotify acknowledged the issues on social media, stating, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out.” Many users expressed their frustration with the outage, noting its impact on their activities. One user urged a quick fix while at the gym, while another highlighted how the disruption affected their study efforts.
Some users even threatened to switch to competing streaming services like YouTube or Apple Music.
