Afrobeats star King Promise has declared himself the most deserving candidate for the Artiste of the Year title at the upcoming 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
The renowned artist made this assertion during his performance at the extravagant 40th birthday celebration of businessman Richard Nii-Armah Quaye on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra.
On stage, King Promise—famous for his signature oversized boots—proudly mentioned his nomination for the prestigious award.
“I got nominated for Artiste of the Year as well this year, you know what I’m saying?” he confidently remarked, nodding to the beat.
He further emphasized his industry dominance, stating in Pidgin English, “Nobody has worked more than us.” He expressed his pride, saying, “I’m always proud, I’m always honored to represent Ghana to the world.”
Last year, King Promise was a favorite to win the Artiste of the Year award, but the title ultimately went to Afro-Dancehall artist Stonebwoy. This year, he faces tough competition from top nominees, including Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle, and gospel group Team Eternity Ghana (TEG). Many believe the biggest rivalry will be between King Promise and Hiplife star King Paluta.
During his performance, King Promise addressed rumors of efforts to prevent him from winning the award for a second consecutive year, dismissing such concerns and assuring fans that he and his team remain focused on achieving victory.

The event attracted notable figures from the business and entertainment sectors across Ghana, Nigeria, and East Africa, providing a grand platform for King Promise to reaffirm his place in the music scene.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025.
