The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has initiated a major staff rationalization exercise, reviewing the recruitment of nearly 600 workers employed after the December 7, 2024, elections.
At a press briefing in Parliament on Monday, March 25, 2025, Mr. George confirmed that nearly 100 employees—primarily from Ghana Post—had already been dismissed, with more expected to follow.
“Today, I authorized the termination of almost 100 staff at Ghana Post, all of whom were hired post-December 7. This rationalization process will continue,” he stated.
Describing the staffing situation as excessive, the Minister emphasized that the ministry and its agencies currently employ over 3,100 people, with a significant number added after the elections.

“You cannot expect me to inherit such a situation and continue with it. We need a lean and efficient workforce to ensure the ministry operates effectively,” he asserted.
Mr. George assured that all cases would be reviewed on an individual basis, with decisions made in line with administrative best practices to enhance the ministry’s efficiency.
