Mob attack Buduburam Police Station, two suspects arrested. ‣ ATL FM NewsRoom

Two persons have been arrested by the Budumbrum police for unlawful Assembly and Causing Unlawful Damage.

The two, Maa Chain Johnson and Ama Amponsah were arrested on 18th July 2020 at about 0900 hours.

They were among , a group of people numbering about 100 believed to be Nigerian and Liberian nationals who had stormed the Gomoa Buduburam Police station in violent protest against the death of one Precious Aba Agbebilay, a Nigerian who died on Saturday 18/07/20 through gun shot wounds from a Police Patrol team.

Precious Aba Agbebilay was shot multiple times on Saturday by the Budumbrum police after he attacked a team of policemen who had been dispatched to disarm him.

The Budumbrum police received a distress call that the deceased wielded a cutlass and was chasing people around with it at the Budumbrum taxi station. When the police tried to disarm him, he grew violent which resulted in the police firing him at his leg and left his arm. He died shortly after suffering the gun shots.

According to police reports his death infuriated Some people in the community who later attacked the police station.

The mob pelted the Budumbrum station with stones and sachet water causing damage to some window glasses at the police station. With the assistance of re-enforcement from the Kasoa Police, the two female suspects were arrested and detained to be put before court on Monday July 20 2020.
