Apple is facing challenges in revamping Siri for the generative AI era, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He indicates that a fully modernized, conversational version of Siri may not launch until iOS 20 in 2027.

However, significant updates to Siri are expected before that date. A new version is set to be introduced in May, integrating the Apple Intelligence features announced nearly a year ago.

Gurman describes this upcoming Siri as having “two brains”: one for traditional tasks like setting timers and making calls, and another for more complex queries utilizing user data. An integrated system, referred to internally as “LLM Siri,” is anticipated to be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with a launch planned for spring 2026.

According to Gurman, only after that will Apple be positioned to fully focus on enhancing Siri’s advanced features, potentially leading to a rollout the following year.
