The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Possibility Security Services Limited to enhance security on campus.
This agreement follows a National Competitive Tender process and approval from the Central Tender Review Committee of the Ministry of Finance.
Under the one-year pilot agreement, effective March 1, 2025, Possibility Security Services will provide uniformed personnel to guard key university facilities, including the Science Annex, Institutional Affiliation and Educational Outreach, Superannuation Hall, and UCC’s satellite campuses in Accra, Dominase, and Agona Nyankrom.
The contract may be renewed based on satisfactory performance.
At the signing ceremony, UCC Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarkoh Boampong, emphasized the importance of the partnership in ensuring a safer environment for students and staff.
He acknowledged past security challenges and expressed confidence that the collaboration would improve campus safety.
“We have had security challenges, and we’ve gone through the processes to get approval to engage external security personnel to complement those already working here. This pilot will allow us to assess the effectiveness of combining both forces before making a final decision on campus security management,” Prof. Boampong stated.
He urged the security personnel to handle students with care while protecting university property, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding between the university community and the security team to ensure a smooth working relationship.

The initiative aligns with UCC’s commitment to strengthening security and maintaining a safe learning environment.
