A court in Twifo Hemang has granted bail to the Constituency Youth Organizer, Samuel Kwadwo Debrah for allegedly biting off the finger of a polling station Secretary, Frank Kwaku Baah.
He was granted bail of GH 60,000 with three sureties.
Mr. Baah (the victim) was also granted bail of GHC 20,000 with two sureties. The two are expected to return to court on Thursday, 13th February, 2025 for the case to resume.
Speaking on ATL FM’s Mantew Mu Nsem show on February 6, Executive Producer, Eric Ato Ampiah of Fiamkor FM in Twifo Heman, revealed that calm had been restored in the community following the incident, attributing the calm to the efforts of the party leadership in de-escalating the situation.
Background
The incident occurred during a meeting with the national leadership, who were investigating the party’s overwhelming defeat in the 2024 general election.
The committee aimed to identify factors contributing to the loss and recommend strategies for rebuilding the party.
According to Baah, some polling station executives criticized the constituency executives for the defeat during the meeting.
Debrah, unhappy with the comments, attacked Baah without provocation, slapping him from behind and ultimately biting off his finger.
Baah has called for justice, stating he’s been left maimed. “I’m still in shock and pain,” he said in an interview. “I demand justice for this heinous act. The party must take action against Debrah and ensure that he faces the consequences of his actions.”
The incident has since sparked outrage within the party at Twifo Hemang, with many calling for Debrah’s immediate suspension and expulsion.
The party’s national leadership is yet to speak publicly about the incident.
