A former Minister for Employment and Social Welfare and labour expert, Austin Gamey, has described President John Dramani Mahama’s first set of nominations for ministerial appointments as a masterstroke.
The nominees are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister of Finance designate, John Jinapor as Minister of Energy designate, and Dr. Dominic Ayini as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice designate.
Speaking on Joy News, Mr. Gamey asserted that the choices made by the President were spot-on due to the pedigree of the persons named.
He indicated that “these are people he will be relying on to work together with the entire public to bring about results as quickly as possible, especially in shaping his 24-hour economy. So I think that it’s appropriate.”
“They are the real people with the knowledge, with the skill, with the understanding, and the sensibility of the country is fully in their grips… As somebody who has also worked three ministries before, I think that, to be very honest with you, this is a masterstroke.”
Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi also commended President Mahama’s first selection of ministerial appointments.
He expressed satisfaction at the President’s priority of merit, competence and integrity, indicative of the approach every leader should take.
He explained that the president has been careful in his selection adding “He has put merit ahead of any consideration, and this is what we expect every President to do.”
“Honestly, I’m highly impressed with the list so far. I’m very impressed with President Mahama,” he added.
