Former Minister for Energy, Herbert Krapa has urged the current government to focus on maintaining a stable power supply rather than shifting blame on the Akufo Addo government for any looming power crisis.
This follows concerns raised by Mr. John Jinapor, the Co-Chairman of the Transition Team Sub-Committee on Energy and Natural Resources who says “massive load shedding looms as Ghana’s fuel stock depletes, blaming the situation on the immediate past government.
In a statement, Mr. Krapa described the allegation as baseless emphasizing load shedding does not loom.
“It is caused either by technical or emergency power sector,” he added.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo led government, left a significant stock of light crude oil and heavy fuel oil, which is currently being used by power plants such as Cenpower and AKSA to generate electricity.
he noted that this fact is easily verifiable with a phone call to both power plants.
Mr. Herbert Krapa underscored the need for the NDC government to not only procure adequate liquid fuel to ensure a stable power supply but also plan competently to avert power supply disruptions.

“The NDC government should get to work as we did, the reason we kept the lights on for eight years, regardless of the difficult times, and stop the needless finger pointing. That is not the way we kept the lights on.”
