Spotify confirmed to TechCrunch that it has formally discontinued Car Thing, its in-car streaming device, and all units are now inactive.
An X(Formerly known as Twitter) user discovered earlier today that their Car Thing is, in fact, no longer working. A warning stating that it is “no longer operational” was displayed, along with a reminder that the refund terms are valid until January 14, 2025.
This gadget was introduced in February 2022 with the goal of enhancing music control in automobiles without integrated infotainment systems. But because to poor demand and problems with the supply chain, it was canceled less than a year later.
The devices will no longer function as of December 9, the business has previously declared.
Users strongly objected to Spotify’s announcement of the suspension, believing they should be reimbursed for the $90 purchase price. In order to get a refund, customers now have a little over a month to get in touch with customer support and present evidence of purchase.
