The Ghana Police Service has arrested 89 persons in connection with various offences committed during and after the general elections held on Saturday.
40 of these suspects are directly related to acts of vandalism, looting, and destruction of properties.
In a statement, the service assured that the arrested suspects would be arraigned before court to face prosecution.
They also appealed to the public to refrain from acts of violence as no one found culpable would be left off the hook.
Meanwhile, the service has increased visibility through joint patrols with other security agencies.
It has also conducted intelligence-led operations to identify and arrest perpetrators within the communities.
Additionally, static security has been deployed to some targeted state facilities and engaged government officials and other stakeholders.
Additionally, the Ghana Police Service noted it has established a special investigation team to identify perpetrators from all relevant videos and put them up for prosecution.
While extending appreciation to Ghanaians for their support throughout the elections, the Service urged all and sundry to remain calm as they work to protect lives and properties.
