The 2024 elections have officially come to a close, with voting concluding at polling stations across the country.
The EC notes that 95% of polling centres had concluded voting with voting still ongoing at approximately 5% of polling stations.
Reports from the Electoral Commission indicate a smooth and largely peaceful election, despite a few isolated incidents including one confirmed death.
Addressing the press, Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Benjamin Bano-Bio stated that this year’s election has been “peaceful” and said division of polling stations resulted in low congestion at polling centres.
The Electoral Commission commended party agents and media personnel for being cooperative throughout the process.
He, however, cautioned party agents to confirm their figures with the Commission before they publish them.
The Commission is expected to provide more updates at 9pm.
