Celebrated Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty has indicated that though she may not be a part of the campaign trail of her husband, she would support him with prayers.
The wife of politician, Hopeson Adorye, has mentioned in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes show, Empress Gifty voiced her views on the role and responsibilities of being the wife of a Member of Parliament.
She believes that many MPs’ wives aren’t fully utilizing the privilege and opportunity associated with their husband’s position.
According to her, there is significant potential for meaningful contributions that these women could make, yet many are overlooking these opportunities.

“If I held the role of an MP’s wife, I’d approach it in a way that would inspire other wives of MPs to become more proactive,” she explained. “People often don’t even recognize who they are, yet they hold a position that could allow them to make impactful contributions. There is a great deal of responsibility that comes with the mandate given to their husbands, and they have the capacity to make a difference.”

Discussing her decision to take a step back from the campaign trail, Empress Gifty emphasized that her career as a musician differs from her husband’s political journey.
Empress GIfty also shared that she now focuses her on supporting her husband with prayers , allowing her to concentrate on her own career so she can provide financial support when needed.
“My husband is fulfilling his role as a politician, but I am Empress, and my work is for the people. When he goes on campaign, I stay in my lane and back him with prayers,” she remarked.
Reflecting on her past experiences campaigning alongside her husband, Gifty expressed no regrets. She believes that it is important for a wife to support her husband’s aspirations. Looking forward, she confidently hinted that one day she might become the wife of a Member of Parliament or even the President, encouraging others not to be surprised if that day comes.
Empress Gifty has been married to Hopeson Adorye, a prominent Ghanaian politician, for five years. The couple has two children together, following her previous marriage to Prophet Elisha Osei.
