The government says it has intensified its operations against illegal mining promising to rid the country’s river bodies of all mining activities.
A statement from the Ministry of Information indicated it had concluded operational measures to intensify the ongoing “Operation Halt” led by the Ghana Armed Forces in conjunction with the Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana.
The government reaffirmed that river bodies and forest reserves remain “red zones and will not be tolerated for mining activities.
The government further reiterated its commitment to fighting illegal small-scale mining and called on all stakeholders to join the fight.
