The University of Cape Coast has matriculated approximately 1,944 students for the 2023/2024 academic year, including 480 undergraduates and 1,464 postgraduates, who will be pursuing various Sandwich programs.
Addressing the new students, Vice Chancellor Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong extended his congratulations and underscored the importance of their decision to join the university.
He emphasized the necessity for students to follow university regulations to foster a peaceful and productive learning environment stating that “The University of Cape Coast, like any other institution of higher learning, has established rules and regulations not to punish you, but to ensure order and harmony,“
“These guidelines are designed to make your experience here enjoyable and to support effective functioning among students, staff, and residents. I urge you to thoroughly read and adhere to these rules.
“The university upholds a strict policy against behaviors such as cultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism, and prostitution. We value the peace we have maintained and expect you to uphold the matriculation oath and avoid any actions that could threaten this environment.”
He further advised students to leverage the expertise of the university’s distinguished faculty and to approach their studies with diligence revealing, “We expect you to treat your time at the University of Cape Coast with the highest regard.
“Regular attendance and engagement with our esteemed professors, senior lecturers, and research fellows are crucial. Take all academic activities seriously, as they contribute to your overall performance. Hard work will mitigate the temptation to engage in examination malpractice. The global recognition the university is receiving places a responsibility on you to meet the high expectations of being a student here.”
Concluding his address, Professor Boampong urged students to adhere to campus safety precautions and stay informed about university updates advising, “Please be mindful of your safety and follow traffic regulations on campus.
