Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Samuel Kwabena Ampah, popularly known as Kahpun has revealed that he didn’t pay anything to Stonebwoy to feature him on his “MakeUp” single.
After the song was released recently, it has caught attention nationwide, enjoying a lot of airplay and streams on YouTube. This huge acceptance would have normally warranted a huge sum putting Stonebwoy on the track.
However, Kahpun told Barrister Daniels, host of Entertainment Zone on ATL FM that he didn’t pay a dime to get Stonebwoy on the Makeup track, but Stonebwoy loved the track and decided to jump on it as a means of appreciating talent.
“I didn’t pay anything to get Stonebwoy on my song. Honestly speaking, I didn’t pay a dime. Like I said, it’s all about the relationship, it’s all about the respect. He also has respect for talent. So when he says he is going to do it, he is going to do it”.
Furthermore, he revealed that Stonebwoy is a talented musician, with whom he has a strong connection with. Additionally, he intimated that his management also had a good rapport with Stonebwoy. However, his love for the music was what propelled him to accept to do a feature with him.
“Real recognizes real ones. Stonebwoy is an exceptional musician by all standards. He is a very talented musician, and I really admire that about him. I feel that in terms of talent, we have a strong connection. Moreover, my management has a good relationship with him. I also know him personally like a brother, but we lost contact and have reconnected again. I can confidently say that his decision to be on the track stems from the fact that he really loves the tune.
Kahpun, however, debunked rumours that he allegedly sent some assailants to assault one radio personality in Cape Coast called Candymann. According to him, if anything of such happened, he wishes to stress that he has no hand in it.
Kahpun has won several awards including Best Dancehall Musician in the Central Region and other international award nominations.
